Before you buy
These firepits are made from hot rolled mild steel in a manufacturing facility and can take on scuffs and scratches throughout the process. Please understand that they do not arrive in pristine untouched condition. They will inevitably have unique characteristics due to the manufacturing process.
Our fire features create a lot of heat. Please do not place them on any wooden or synthetic surfaces without placing down a barrier of fire brick or pavers first. LoTech Flameworks is in no way held responsible for any heat damage caused by misuse.
See Assembly & Care for more information.
Yes. Our fire pits are manufactured from hot rolled mild steel and will begin to rust as the seasons become wetter. The rusting process will start on the edges and over time will grow to cover the entire surface of the panels. All stages of the rusting process are beautiful and fit right in with any landscape style.
If you would like to slow the rusting process you can cover the SpirePit™ when not in use and be sure to wipe it down with a dry towel anytime it gets wet. This will stave off the rusting process but will only work as long as you are diligent. We feel that the SpirePit™ is a work of art and the rust adds a natural beauty.
YES, but No more dangerous than any other fire pit / chiminea. As with all fire pits - PLEASE KEEP CHILDREN UNDER CLOSE SUPERVISION AT ALL TIMES and treat it like any other hazard. The surface is very hot when in use and can cause permanent injury if not treated with respect.
Generally it is best to start the fire with newspaper and kindling. The best wood for kindling is dry soft woods like Pine. After the fire is burning successfully, Oak or other hardwoods are typically used to stabilize the burn so that it doesn’t require constant refueling.
Yes but painting such things requires special paint designed for high heat. This paint is often used on wood stoves and usually can be found at home improvement stores.
It's always best to paint your fire pit when it is brand new before the first use and also before any evidence of rust. Please consult a professional.
Note: We strongly believe that our environment desperately needs less toxic chemicals so we recommend not doing this. But if you plan to, please take proper precautions with regards to fumes and disposal / runoff.
